Aluminum sheet and aluminum plate are essentially the same; the only true distinction is in their respective thickness. Aluminum sheet is any aluminum sheet metal thicker than foil but thinner than 6mm; it comes in many forms including diamond plate, checkered /Chequered plate, expanded, perforated and painted aluminum sheet. The 5052 plate offers excellent corrosion resistance and weldability while 6061 aluminum plate is one of the strongest and most commonly used heat treatable grades.
