According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 163,000 tons of hot-dip galvanized (HDG) sheets and strips in June this year, falling by 14% compared to the previous month and by 18% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 78,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 4.9% and a year-on-year hike of 26.8%. Other major import sources were Brazil (around 17,400 tons) and Mexico (around 15,200 tons).
During the period, the import value totaled roughly US$210 million, down by 13.6% month on month and by 30% year on year.
Galvanized steel coil is a metal material with strong anti-corrosion properties, which is widely used in construction, automobiles, home appliances, machinery and other fields. With the rapid development of China’s economy, the galvanized steel coil industry has also ushered in opportunities for rapid development.
Galvanized steel coil is a galvanized steel product, which has the advantages of anti-corrosion, corrosion resistance and strong durability, and is widely used in construction, home appliances, automobile manufacturing and other fields. The main classifications or types of galvanized steel coil products are as follows:
1. Hot-dip galvanized steel coil: The hot-dip galvanizing process is used to immerse the steel coil in molten zinc solution for galvanizing to form a uniform and dense zinc layer. Hot-dip galvanized steel coils have strong corrosion resistance and are suitable for buildings, bridges, pipelines and other fields in outdoor environments.
2. Electro-galvanized steel coil: The electrolytic galvanizing process is used to immerse the steel coil in the electrolyte solution containing zinc ions, and the zinc ions are reduced to a zinc layer under the action of electric current. The surface of electro-galvanized steel coil is smooth and uniform, which is suitable for household appliances, automobile manufacturing and other fields.
3. Al-Zn-Mg alloy galvanized steel coil: The surface of the steel coil is sprayed with a layer of Al-Zn-Mg alloy coating to form a zinc layer with higher corrosion resistance. Al-Zn-Mg alloy galvanized steel coils are suitable for construction, bridges, pipelines and other fields in harsh environments such as marine and chemical industries.
4. Silicone-coated galvanized steel coil: Silicone coating process is used to spray a layer of silicone coating on the surface of the steel coil, and then hot-dip galvanized. Silicone-coated galvanized steel coil has a smooth surface and good weather resistance, and is suitable for roofing, walls and other construction fields.
5. Galvalume-galvanized steel coil: The surface of the steel coil is sprayed with a layer of aluminum and zinc mixed coating at the same time to form a coating with good corrosion resistance. Galvalume-coated steel coils are suitable for construction, home appliances, automobile manufacturing and other fields.
The above are the main classifications or types of galvanized steel coil products. According to different processes and application fields, manufacturers can provide galvanized steel coil products of different specifications and materials to meet the needs of different customers.
