According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 201,700 tons of hot-rolled flat products in May this year, rising by 11% compared to the previous month while dropping by 4% from the same month a year earlier.
Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 97,300 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 11.8% and a year-on-year drop of 24%. Other major import sources included Japan (around 30,700 tons), Mexico (around 25,700 tons), South Korea (around 20,400 tons), and the Netherlands (around 10,800 tons).

During the period, the import value totaled roughly US$246 million, up by 18.2% month on month and by 29.3% year on year.
