According to statistics from the US Geological Survey, the US imported around 480,000 tons of alumina in the second quarter of this year, hiking by 8.8% compared to the preceding month and also rising by 26.4% from the same period a year ago.

Among them, Brazil was the main import source, supplying 367,000 tons of alumina to the US during the period.

In the first half of this year, the US’ alumina imports amounted to nearly 930,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 16.3%. The imports from Brazil accounted for the largest proportion, totaling 686,000 tons, up by 45.3% year on year.
