Precision steel strips are widely adopted in automotive manufacturing, precision instruments, industrial tools, and elastic component production.
The five mainstream grades, 65Mn, C75, CK75, 1075, and C100S, are high-carbon precision steel strips. Their key technical parameters vary widely.
These include chemical composition, hardness, tensile strength, dimensional tolerance, and mechanical properties.
Subtle parameter differences directly affect material processing performance, service life, and application scenarios.

Precision Steel Strip Chemical Composition Parameters

65Mn Precision Steel Strip: Carbon content 0.62%–0.70%, Manganese content 0.90%–1.20%. It is the only grade with high manganese content in the series. The extra manganese improves the steel’s ductility and hardenability.This helps reduce cracking during processing.Sulfur and phosphorus impurities stay below 0.03%. This meets Chinese GB standards.
C75 & CK75 Precision Steel Strip (EU EN Standard): Both grades feature identical carbon content of 0.70%–0.78% and low manganese content of 0.40%–0.70%. The key difference is impurity control. CK75 has stricter limits on sulfur and phosphorus (≤0.02%). These limits are much lower than C75’s standard. This makes CK75 purer in texture and more stable in performance.
1075 Precision Steel Strip (US SAE Standard): Carbon content 0.70%–0.80%, Manganese content 0.40%–0.70%. Its carbon content range is slightly wider than European C75/CK75 grades. It uses standard impurity controls. It balances hardness and processability to fit U.S. industrial processing needs.
C100S Precision Steel Strip (High-Grade EU Standard): The highest carbon content in the series, reaching 0.95%–1.05%, with manganese content controlled at 0.30%–0.60%. Ultra-high carbon content gives it extreme hardness and wear resistance, while low manganese content reduces ductility. This makes it best for high-strength and high-precision uses, not flexible processing.

Hardness & Tensile Strength Parameter Comparison

Hardness and tensile strength are key mechanical properties for downstream processing. They cover cold-rolled soft and heat-treated tempered states.These states meet different processing and use needs:
65Mn: Cold-rolled hardness 180–220 HV, heat-treated hardness 42–52 HRC, tensile strength 980–1180 MPa. It has moderate hardness and excellent toughness. It offers the best bending and impact resistance of all grades. It is suitable for parts that face frequent vibration and bending.
C75: Cold-rolled hardness 190–230 HV, tempered hardness 45–55 HRC, tensile strength 1050–1250 MPa. Higher hardness and strength than 65Mn, with stable elasticity and conventional fatigue resistance, applicable for medium-load elastic components.
CK75: Cold-rolled precision hardness 200–240 HV, precision tempered hardness 48–56 HRC, tensile strength 1100–1300 MPa. Based on C75’s parameters, it provides a more even hardness distribution and greater structural stability. It also has 20% higher fatigue resistance than standard C75.
1075: Cold-rolled hardness 185–225 HV, heat-treated hardness 46–54 HRC, tensile strength 1080–1280 MPa. Parameters are close to C75, with better edge hardness uniformity and cutting performance, more suitable for tool processing.
C100S: Tempered hardness 52–60 HRC, tensile strength 1350–1550 MPa. It ranks first in the series for hardness and tensile strength. It has ultra-high wear resistance and structural stability. However, it has poor bending ductility. It is not suitable for complex stamping processes.

Dimensional Tolerance & Processing Parameters

Dimensional precision is the core advantage of precision steel strips, and each grade has differentiated tolerance standards adapted to different application precision requirements:
65Mn & 1075: Standard industrial tolerance is ±0.01 mm.
It suits general mechanical parts with low precision needs.
It supports large-scale stamping and bending.
Processing is easy and cost-effective.
C75: European standard conventional tolerance ±0.008mm, stable dimensional accuracy, meeting the precision requirements of ordinary European standard elastic parts, with universal processing adaptability.
CK75 & C100S: High-precision tolerance ±0.003–±0.005mm, ultra-flat surface, no burrs and scratches. These two grades support ultra-precision slitting and fine polishing. They suit high-end precision instruments and new energy component manufacturing. They meet strict dimensional requirements.
