On September 14, 2022, the Mexican Secretariat of Economy (SE) announced to impose temporary anti-dumping (AD) duties on imports of coated flat steel products from Vietnam, regardless of the country of origin. The AD duty rate on Vietnam’s producers/exporters was set in a range from 7.00% to 12.34%, effective from September 15, 2022.

An AD investigation is being conducted by Mexico, based on an application filed by local manufacturers Ternium and Tenigal.

The products involved are flat carbon and/or alloy steel products, resistant to corrosion, with a metallic and/or non-metallic coating, known as galvanized, galvalume, galfan, and painted sheet, classified under HS codes 7210.30.02, 7210.41.01, 7210.41.99, 7210.49.99, 7210.61.01, 7210.70.02, 7212.20.03, 7212.30.03, 7212.40.04, 7225.91.01, 7225.92.01 and 7226.99.99.

The investigated period was from January 1 to December 31, 2020, and the injury analysis period was from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020.
