Speira, an aluminum rolling and recycling company in Germany, said that the company will reduce aluminum production by 50% at its Rheinwerk plant from early October due to high electricity prices. The production cut was scheduled to be completed in November.

Speira’s production of primary aluminum will be cut to 70,000 tons per year afterward owing to rising energy prices in Germany.

Over the past months, energy prices have reached high levels and were expected not to fall in the short term.
