ASTM A1008 is one of the most commonly used materials in the construction industry. It is used in everything from bridges and buildings to guardrails and handrails. It’s most commonly used in the creation of gears and other machinery parts, but it can be used in a variety of other applications as well.
It’s also common in transportation, particularly as structural support for trains, buses, and automobiles.

ASTM A36 is equivalent to EN S275 steel plate
ASTM A36 steel is a carbon structural steel used in the manufacture of welded and bolted metal structures for industrial and civil construction and bridge building. ASTM A36 steel is also used in the manufacture of products and parts for general construction and mechanical engineering purposes
Both yield strength and tensile strength of S275JR carbon steel is higher than that of mild steel ASTM A36. So S275JR carbon steel can bear heavier load than mild steel ASTM A36. In other word, mild steel ASTM A36 is not equivalent to S275JR carbon steel
S275JR grade steel is a readily weldable low carbon manganese steel with good impact resistance. This material is commonly supplied in the untreated or normalised condition. Machinability of this material is similar to that of mild steel
